HS journal up to Feb 2015

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim..

All praise be to Allah for enabling me to share about my homeschool activities. Actually until now, I am still trying to cope with lots of things regarding homeschooling, which are about schedule, time management as a homeschooler and home maker, my syllabus, activities, learning materials and currently i would like to read more about the learning styles.

So far, these were the activities that had successfully done alhamdulillah.. and for the subjects, I try to focus on teaching her reading Quran using Iqra' book, literacy (if she can read earlier, it might be very good for her to explore more things :), and counting. There are lots more activities she always did, as baking, painting, and drawing. As for her lil sister, so far she really loves books and we just play and play (including quite a number of falling off as she tried to stand up and climbing on something. well, that's a lesson to isn't it? :)

So here we are, enjoy walking through our gallery !

Today- blending of level 1 phonics (satpin. reference: Jolly phonics books and videos)

Alhamdulillah she managed to use the pins very well. I thought the 7 words are a lot to be finished, but she insisted to do it all! masya allah. And her mood was so good after doing the exercise, probably she felt a high sense of achievement. Yes, praises and lots of hugs and kiss were been given during the activity :)

Creating a very brilliant masterpiece after having two mum's made donuts with custard.

Baking cupcakes for her birthday.

The current approach on Iqra'2: I wrote down the letters and she put on the harakats and pronounce it as well. Yesterday, she pretended to teach her teddy bear and rabbits. So whiteboard is always an important tool.

I didn't find the whiteboard marker. So this is another useful alternative. This magnetic drawing pad is also great for travel too.

It's not easy to let her help at the kitchen now, as i always wanted things to be done quickly before the baby wakes up. but actually this is a good exercise for her: more on practical life, or otherwise learning about responsibility. Lots of patience required, but Alhamdulillah..my sink had cleared even though i need to wash everything that she put on the drying rack (which she considered done and clean ;)

Last 3 weeks was the peak of winter. Alhamdulillah, even not so heavy..Allah lets us feel another snow in the final year here. Muna really likes it, she even went to the backyard on her own to play with the snow. Not too long, its really freezing ccccccolllddd!!!!

Our weather clock, as the weather is always changing and that makes Muna really alert about the weather.

Another good toys from Leap Frog, bought from Salvation Army charity shop. Muna learnt the sounds of letters a lot.

Introducing the arabic alphabet with mad alif.

Maryam's tunnel :)

Learning satpin letters first.

We collected the things that started with the sound p.

Slide down, saying pppppeh! hehehe.

I used the masking tape on the carpet for the letter I. The she traced it with felt tip pen. Next, Maryam took it off and as usual, bit it :)

Alhamdulillah, may this benefit the readers. Even though you are a working parent, lots you can do for a home learning, a part of your quality time spent with your children.

Sorry for some weaknesses :).. jazakumullahukhair for reading.
